Overview

The Seasonal Work Visa allows non-EU nationals to work temporarily in the Czech Republic in sectors where work is dependent on a specific season. This visa can be issued as a short-stay Schengen visa (for stays up to 90 days) or a long-stay visa (for stays exceeding 90 days and up to 9 months).

What is Seasonal Employment?

Seasonal employment refers to work that is dependent on seasonal conditions.

  • Construction: Building construction, civil engineering, specialized construction activities
  • Tourism & Hospitality: Accommodation services, food services, catering
  • Technical & Professional Services: Architectural and engineering activities, technical testing and analysis
  • Recreation & Entertainment: Sports, entertainment, and holiday services

Visa Types for Seasonal Work

  1. Short-Stay Visa for Seasonal Work (Schengen Visa – up to 90 days)
    • Issued for employment in a seasonal job for a maximum of 90 days.
    • Requires an approved work permit.
    • Valid within the Schengen Areaor only for the Czech Republic, depending on the visa type.
  2. Long-Stay Visa for Seasonal Work (Over 90 Days, up to 9 months)
    • Issued for seasonal jobs lasting more than 90 days, with a maximum stay of 9 months.
    • Requires an approved work permit under Section 96(1) of the Employment Actor proof of an already submitted application for this permit.

Processing Time

  • Short-Stay Visa: Usually processed within 15 days.
  • Long-Stay Visa: Standard processing time is 90 days.

Documents Required

Mandatory Documents for All Seasonal Work Visas

  • Completed Visa Application Form
  • Valid Passport
  • Recent Passport-Sized Photograph
  • Work Permit issued by the Czech Labour Office under Section 96(1) of the Employment Act, or a reference number of an already submitted application
  • Proof of Accommodation in the Czech Republic (ownership certificate, lease agreement, or employer-provided accommodation confirmation)
  • Employer’s Confirmation of Salary or Wage (original and a certified copy)
  • Travel Health Insurance covering the entire stay

Formal Requirements

  • Documents must be issued within the last 180 days (except for travel documents, civil registry documents, or photographs).
  • Documents in languages other than Czech or Slovak must be accompanied by a sworn Czech translation.
  • Documents from foreign authorities must be apostilled .

UK Residency

  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Finance

  • Provide recent bank statements or a financial guarantee confirming sufficient funds to support your stay in the Czech Republic.

Proof of Travel

  • Round-trip flight reservation or a confirmed itinerary showing intended travel dates.
  • Valid travel health insurance covering the entire stay in the Czech Republic.

Additional Documents (If Required)

  • Criminal Record Certificate from the applicant’s country of citizenship
  • Medical Report (if requested)
  • Criminal Record Certificate from any country where the applicant has resided for six months or more in the last three years

Photo Specifications

  • Recent, colour passport-sized photograph.
  • White or light background, no shadows.
  • Neutral expression, no smiling.
  • No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings, except for religious purposes.
  • Must be glued to the visa application form.

If the submitted photograph does not meet these requirements, the visa application will be considered incomplete, and the applicant will be required to submit a new photo.
