Intra-Company Employee Transfer Card – Czech Republic

Overview

The Intra-Company Employee Transfer Card is a long-term residence permit that enables non-EU nationals to be transferred from their country of origin to work in the Czech Republic as managers, specialists, or employed interns. This permit is applicable only for individuals working within a multinational company with an office or branch in the Czech Republic.

Who Can Apply?

The Intra-Company Employee Transfer Card is intended for third-country nationals (non-EU citizens) who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Managers: Senior executives responsible for overseeing a business or division, supervising employees, and making strategic decisions, including hiring and dismissals.
  • Specialists: Professionals with specialised knowledge critical to company operations, requiring specific formal qualifications or industry experience.
  • Employed Interns: University graduates transferred to a Czech-based company for career development or specialised training, receiving a salary or remuneration.

Who Cannot Apply?

You do not qualify for this permit if:

  • You are applying for a long-term residence permit for scientific research.
  • Your employer transferred you under an EU cross-border service provision.
  • You reside in the Czech Republic for business purposes.
  • An employment agencyarranged your job.
  • You are in the Czech Republic for full-time studies.
  • Your employer is based in a country with EU free movement agreementsor bound by the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement.

Validity of the Intra-Company Employee Transfer Card

  • Managers and Specialists: Up to 3 years.
  • Employed Interns: Maximum of 1 year.
  • The total duration of residence in the EUunder an intra-company transfer is capped at 3 years.

Example: A foreign manager transferred to a Czech branch for 2 years will receive an Intra-Company Employee Transfer Card valid for 2 years. If the employer extends the transfer for another 4 years, the permit can only be extended for 1 additional year, as the total transfer period cannot exceed 3 years.

Processing Time

  • Standard processing time: 90 days.

Documents Required

Mandatory Documents

  • Completed Visa Application Form
  • Valid Passport
  • Recent Passport-Sized Photograph
  • Proof of Accommodation in the Czech Republic
  • Letter of Transfer issued by the employer confirming:
    • The employee’s transfer details
    • Employment conditions (working hours, salary, annual leave)
    • Assurance of return to the parent company after the transfer ends
  • Proof of Employment: Confirmation that the applicant has been employed by the company for at least 6 months before the transfer
  • Proof of Corporate Relationship: Documents verifying the relationship between the sending and receiving entities, such as:
    • Proof that the Czech entity is a subsidiary or spin-off
    • Documents proving that both entities are under the same controlling parent company
  • Proof of Professional Qualification (if required by law for the job position)
  • Proof of Compliance with Regulated Professions Requirements (if applicable)
  • Criminal Record Certificate from the applicant’s country of citizenship

Formal Requirements

  • All documents must be issued within the last 180 days (except travel documents, civil registry documents, and photographs).
  • Documents in languages other than Czech or Slovak must be accompanied by a sworn Czech translation.
  • Documents issued by foreign authorities must be apostilled or superlegalised.

UK Residency

  • Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.

Proof of Finance

  • Provide recent bank statements or a financial guarantee confirming sufficient funds to support your stay in the Czech Republic.

Proof of Travel

  • Confirmed travel itinerary or flight reservation.
  • Valid travel health insurance covering the entire stay.

Additional Documents (If Requested)

  • Medical Report
  • Criminal Record Certificate from any country where the applicant has resided for six months or more in the last three years

Additional Requirements for Employed Interns

  • University Degree Certificate
  • Training Agreement specifying career development objectives

Photo Specifications

  • Recent, colour passport-sized photograph.
  • White or light background, no shadows.
  • Neutral expression, no smiling.
  • No sunglasses, hats, or head coverings, except for religious purposes.
  • Must be glued to the visa application form.

If the submitted photograph does not meet these requirements, the visa application will be considered incomplete, and the applicant will be required to submit a new photo.
